How do I apply for volunteer positions?

All City of Ottawa volunteers must complete the following steps:

1. Create a profile on our online volunteer database

2. Submit a completed Parent/Guardian Consent Form (volunteers under 18)

3. Complete Accessible Customer Service training and Integrated Accessibility Service Regulation training.

4. Submit a Police Record Check

5. Interview

FAQ

How old do I have to be in order to volunteer?

The City of Ottawa requires all volunteers to be at least 14-years old when they work their first shift.

 

Can I volunteer for more than one position?

Yes! Apply for any positions that interest you.

What do I need to submit before the application deadline?

Each volunteer position has an application deadline.

You will need to submit the following requirements before the deadline in

order to be eligible for the position:

1. Create a profile on our online database

2. Complete and submit a Parent/Guardian Consent Form

3. Complete and submit proof of completion for both online accessibility trainings for volunteers

How do I submit proof of the Accessibility Trainings for Volunteers?

For the Accessible Customer Service Training: finish the training, send a completed certificate to youthconnexion@ottawa.ca or Jordan.little@ottawa.ca

For the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation Training: complete the training and take a screenshot of the final section of the training. Send the screenshot to youthconnexion@ottawa.ca or Jordan.little@ottawa.ca

Why can't I see any volunteer opportunities when I log into my account?

The most likely situation is that the application windows for all of our volunteer positions have closed. Check out our Volunteer Opportunities page to see the positions that are currently open for application.

How do I get a Police Record Check?

All record check requests must be made online, or in person at the Ottawa Police Services station located at 2670 Queensview Dr. Volunteers under the age of 18 can begin their application online, but must confirm their identity in person at the Queensview station.

 

BREAKING NEWS:

There have been changes to the Ottawa Police Services' fee structure that impacts volunteers seeking a record check. As of September 1st, 2019 volunteers that submit an Authorization Letter for Police Record Check will be charged a $10 administrative fee.

This fee will increase to $20 on January 1st, 2020.
